EEE & West Nile Virus found in Hanson

The Board of Health was notified on
Monday, September. 10, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. by the Department of Public Health of the isolation of both EEE (rtf)
and West Nile Virus (rtf) in mosquitoes
obtained from a test site in the Town of Hanson.

While there is no cause of panic, the Board of Health recommends all resident to follow Department
of Public Health guidelines with respect to personal protection:

If you must be outdoors between dusk and dawn, wear long sleeved shirts and long pants. |
| 2.

Use a repellent containing DEET or Picaridin.
|
| 3.
|
Repair any holes in your screens and make sure they are tightly attached to windows and doors. |
| 4.
|
Remove any standing water around your home.
|
|
Reminder: The hours that the mosquitoes are the most active are early morning
hours from 6-9 a.m. and at dusk, starting at 6 p.m. Please make sure your child is protected before
coming to soccer if you have an early game.
